Attending this Eddie Miles Concert

I was privileged to be able to attend this concert. What a concert it was! Another facet of Eddie was shown as he sang songs that were not part of his usual “Tribute to Elvis and Country Legends”.

Three Beatles songs were introduced in the first half. The applause from the audience, filled with mostly ‘first-timers” was deafening.

Two songs by Roy Orbison followed. “Pretty Woman” is always a winner, but “Crying” was beyond belief. I would venture to say even Roy, himself, would have been impressed. Without a doubt, Eddie can sing anyone’s songs and, in my humble opinion, even sing them better than the original.

For a change of pace, Eddie does a segment called “Ditties”. Not only does he inject humor with his funny little songs, he can tell funny stories about his “Uncle Bob”. Everyone loves Uncle Bob! Eddie can tell a joke and deliver the punch line with the timing of a professional comedian.

Conway Twitty’s “Only Make Believe” ended to wild applause. Everyone loves Conway and this crowd was no exception.

Eddie brought his “get acquainted” portion of the show to a close with “Green River” by Creedence Clearwater Revival. As he left the stage the audience roared its approval. I am always so pleased to hear comments from folks who have never seen him before. Everyone had only positive things to say and was ready to experience his “Salute to Elvis”.

“2001, A Space Odyssey” comes to end, the lights begin to dance, and Eddie enters the stage, looking like Elvis, himself. The audience is on its feet!!! Eddie’s adrenaline has to be pumping, as he looks out and sees the audience showing their appreciation for his appearance at the Vern-Riffe Center at Shawnee University in Portsmouth, Ohio.

After three quick songs “That’s All Right Mama”, “Trouble “and “Johnny B. Goode”, Eddie shifts gears and gives a beautiful rendition of “Memories”. Speaking for myself and many others of my friends and fans, he has given us some beautiful memories. No matter the venue, those who attend always get their monies worth. A night with Eddie Miles is always a night well spent. His talent never ceases to amaze and thrill us.

His song line-up covered so many of Elvis’ hits, it’s hard to chose only one as a favorite.

Simon and Garfunkel’s “Bridge over Troubled Waters” presented as Elvis sang it, is a treat every time.

No show would be complete without “Jailhouse Rock” and, of course, Eddie can really rock it.

“How Great Thou Art”, Elvis’ Grammy winning song, had everyone on their feet. The applause just went on and on!

Two more songs will fill out the evening performance. “My Way”--–Eddie has always done things “his way”. There is no denying the fact that he has always given meticulous attention to detail, from the music to the attire, which sets him apart from the others.

Eddie closes his concert with a special tribute to our Armed Forces. If it were not for the selflessness of these brave men and women, we would not be enjoying the freedoms that we have today. Nothing is more appropriate than “The Trilogy” and the audience responds quickly with its approval.

Eddie leaves the stage, the house lights come up and everyone seems to be buzzing about the performance they have just witnessed.

The evening has not yet come to an end. Eddie takes time to visit with fans in the lobby. He graciously sits for pictures to be taken and banters with folks who cannot believe the evening they have just spent being entertained by the best.

Thank you all for allowing me to share some of my observations with you as once again I file away a special night in my book of memories.

I’m looking forward to Eddie’s return to the stage, when I’ll be able to add more pages.

***This memorable evening was presented as Eddie was suffering with painful feet. We have the deepest admiration for the man and his music. He is a professional in every sense of the word and his audiences never go away lacking!
